Investment Process

The members of the StartAngels Network invest as individuals on their own account in conjunction with further StartAngels.

StartAngels investors look for early stage businesses in various industries in Switzerland and typically invest some CHF 50 to 200k per member. In the case of co-investments, the investment may total to CHF 1 to 2 M.

The procedure from submission to the closing consist of two parts:

First Part: From Submission to Presentation of a Project

Project Submission
The entrepreneurs provide and structure the relevant information using the StartAngels Factsheet and Canvas. Instructions as well as the pertaining factsheet form can be found under “Project Submission“.

Pre-Screening of Projects
The board or a designated individual assesses each incoming Factsheet and Canvas. Based on the Factsheet, the Canvas, and the webpage a decision on the continuation of the process is taken, including queries to the company where applicable.

Selection and Presentation
The board selects three to four suitable projects to be presented at one of the two to four yearly StartAngels events. The projects are presented to the members and guests by members of the respective company.

Second Part: Investment Process

Upon receipt of the Factsheets plus Canvas, or after the presentation of the companies, StartAngels convey their interest to invest as lead investor or co-investors to the board.
The lead investor calls a kick-off meeting with the respective StartAngels, guests and further investors to form the investing consortium, assess the business plan and to determine the ensuing course of action.
The investors negotiate the key terms and conditions with the company, laid down in the Term Sheet.
Once the Term Sheet is signed, the lead investor organizes the Due Diligence test
Terms & conditions, investment agreement and shareholder agreement are finalized allowing for the Closing
